Tres décadas después del estreno de Karate Kid, el público volvió a familiarizarse con nombres como Daniel San (Ralph Macchio), Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) o Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue) tras los estrenos en Netflix de las temporadas 1 y 2 (agosto 2020) y 3 (enero 2021) de Cobra Kai, la secuela del exitoso filme que muestra la vida de los protagonistas, 36 años después, pero que también incluye las de sus hijos, que sin quererlo quedan en medio de la rivalidad de sus padres.

Así como muchos jóvenes se acercaron en los ochenta al karate fascinados por la historia de Daniel Larusso y su sensei el señor Miyagi, lo mismo ocurrió en los últimos meses, cuando aumentaron notablemente las consultas en las escuelas y dojos.

EKF Organising Commission Chairman Esteban Perez visited Porec (Croatia) where the 56th European Karate Championships will take place in May. The inspection visit marks a highlight in the development of the event, as meetings with local officials were conducted to ensure the success of the anticipated tournament.

The 2021 European Championships are scheduled to be held in Porec (Croatia) from May 19 to 23, 2021. In order to take a step forward in the organisation of the event, the official inspection visit was conducted this week. Headed by EKF Organising Commission Chairman Esteban Perez, the visit aimed at reviewing the main managing aspects of the tournament.

The Croatian Karate Union and its President Davor Cipek led the visit which started with a meeting with all the heads of the different organisational areas in attendance. The EKF and CKU officials then examined the hotels as well as the venue of the EKF Congress while the competition and training halls were intensively reviewed. Special attention was put to ensure the safety of all the participants as the COVID-19 regulations to be implemented at the event were analysed. Spain’s Sandra Sanchez has been recognised by Guinness World Records for her historic performance at the Karate 1-Premier League events. The current World Champion and World ranking leader received the recognition in a ceremony with WKF President Antonio Espinós on attendance.

Guinness World Records, the global authority on record-breaking recognised Karate Star Sandra Sanchez of Spain for her successful career at the Karate 1-Premier League. The ceremony was celebrated today in Madrid and the Spanish karateka received the recognition from WKF President Antonio Espinós.

“There is no secret to win so many medals. At least, I don’t know it. It is just a matter of training, training, and working hard. It is really nice to have received this recognition. At first, when I heard about it, I couldn’t believe it. I just went: ‘I have a record! I have a record!”, Sandra Sanchez said at the ceremony.

Defending World title-holder in Female Kata, Sandra Sanchez has registered a record-breaking performance in Karate 1-Premier League events. The five-time European champion won 35 consecutive medals in Karate 1-Premier League, claiming honours in all the tournaments of Karate’s first-class series of events since January 2014.
