All you need to know about 2021 EKF Senior Championships
European Karate’s elite meets in Porec (Croatia) from May 19 to 23 for the 2021 EKF Senior Championships. It will be the final opportunity for athletes to win points to qualify for the Olympic Games. These are the key elements of the anticipated event.
OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION AT STAKE
The 2021 EKF Senior Championships in Porec is the last tournament in the Olympic qualification process by standings. The quest for the Olympics is expected to be thrilling.
The top four-ranked athletes in each one of the Olympic categories will earn the ticket to the Games by standings. The final list of qualified karatekas by standings will be announced after the European Championships.
While the race for the Games has been clarified in some categories after the last events, the tickets to Tokyo 2020 are up for grabs in the Olympic categories of Female Kumite +61kg, Female Kumite -55kg, and Male Kumite +75kg.

The World Karate Federation has announced the draft calendar for 2022. The Karate competitions for next year have been tentatively scheduled with events subject to being updated due to the current challenging situation.
Many first-class Karate events are slated to capture the interest of fans in 2022. The new year will tentatively bring five Karate 1-Premier League events, four Karate 1-Youth League tournaments as well as the return to the calendar of the Karate 1-Series A with three tournaments.
Additionally, the World Cadet, Junior and U21 Championships to be held in Konya (Turkey) will gather the promising athletes of the sport in one of the top moments of the year.
The new season will also have anticipated multisport events with Karate competitions in them such as the Mediterranean Games, the Asian Games, The World Games, and the FISU UWC Combat Sports as highlights.

With100 days to go until the start of the Olympic Games, the Karate community has gathered to showcase the excitement of the sport for the milestone.
“Our Olympic debut is coming closer and closer and now, only 100 days separate us from our Olympic dreams coming true. We need to continue working hard to make sure that all the values, excitement and unique sporting spirit of Karate are truly showcased in Tokyo in less than 100 days,” said WKF President Antonio Espinós.
Wednesday 14 April marks 100 days to the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Numerous activities are taking place to mark the occasion, including the unveiling of a set of Olympic Rings on top of Mount Takao. The Italian Kumite ace who had defeated superstar Rafael Aghayev of Azerbaijan in the final of the World Championships two years earlier in Paris 2012 fought for gold against surprising underdog Ryuichi Tani in the final of Male Kumite -75kg.
