A series of online seminars have been hosted by the African Karate Federation (UFAK) to promote the development of the sport in the continent. Sponsored and co-organised by the WKF, the activity gathered an average of 600 participants from 45 African countries over four sessions.

While national and continental federations continue maximising opportunities amid the current limitations caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the African Karate Federation launched a series of webinars to expand the progress of the sport in Africa. Focused on Shiai-Kumite, the seminars aimed at raising the performance of African Karate at the highest level and were imparted by international expert Antonio Oliva.

The activity was celebrated in four sessions, starting on January 2nd and concluding on February 2nd. With the WKF as co-organisers and with the personal support of UFAK President and WKF Vice President Mohamed Tahar Mesbahi, the seminars were headed by UFAK 1st Vice President and WKF 3rd Vice President Bechir Cherif who effectively managed the massive project and led the activity to a highly successful outcome.

The first session had the participation of WKF President Antonio Espinós. The head of Karate’s international governing body officially opened the event and acknowledged the efforts of different Karate organisations to make the most of the current challenging circumstances.
